Mustard yellow! Deep chocolates! And of course a sprinkling of animal…
It’s finally the season for all things pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin lattes, and more are everywhere this time of year. Some of us love it and some of us hate it… but I’m totally in the love it camp! This made-from-scratch pumpkin soup recipe is a quick, filling, veggie-packed fall meal. Bonus… in a pinch, I can make this soup entirely from ingredients in my pantry! Pumpkin soup has all of the flavors of fall in a bowl. Healthy Pumpkin Soup I’m not sure pumpkin soup could be unhealthy, since pumpkin itself is loaded with fiber, beta-carotene, vitamin…

Canada’s Rover Tiny Homes takes an interesting approach to downsizing with its Cypress model. The tiny house isn’t mounted on a trailer, but what it loses in portability it gains in space, with a remarkably roomy interior that’s suitable for a family.Instead of a trailer, the Cypress is designed to be installed on permanent foundations. It has a length of 44 ft (13.4 m), which is up there with the biggest tiny houses on the market, and it has a width of 12 ft (3.6 m).The home is finished in metal siding, with cedar trim, and boasts generous glazing, helping…
I’m so lucky to be friends with master perfumers who send me samples of their latest creations! Laurie of Velvet and Sweet Pea’s Purrfumery is a sweetheart and a true animal lover. She shared with me her latest limited edition project, Pangolin Violette Rose. Laurie is giving a generous portion of the proceeds to the Pangolin Crisis Fund. Did you know pangolins are the world’s most trafficked mammal used for their meat and scales? Pangolin Violette Rose has a dark, sexy, vintage feel. The parfum starts out very earthy – the aged sandalwood really comes through on top of the…
I’ve been experimenting with homemade makeup for years, from DIY concealer and highlighter to lip balm to mascara. I have a powder blush I love that works well, but I’ve gotten requests for a cream blush option. After nailing a liquid foundation recipe, I decided to work on a creamy formula blush too. You can customize this cream blush to your skin tone for a buildable tint. If you have warmer undertones, then use a little more cocoa powder or warmer-toned pigments. I’ve included instructions for the pigment amounts I use, but you can tweak it to your preferences. Cream…

Binge drinking in early adult years fundamentally changes how the brain’s neurons communicate, in what scientists equate to a faulty gas pedal in a car that needs more pressure applied to “go.” What’s more, it remains unchanged for decades, raising the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease later in life. While there’s not much we can do about the past, it may help earlier intervention and treatment to target this area of the brain. The University of Pennsylvania (Penn State) researchers found that binge drinking in your 20s can result in permanent dysregulation that resemble the faulty neuronal information transmission seen in…

Bentonite clay has become a staple in our home from remineralizing toothpaste to armpit detoxes. I’ve even been known to rub it in my hair! There’s even evidence you can use bentonite clay for diarrhea. This home remedy is commonly used for detox protocols since it’s good at binding toxins and impurities. It’s also used for pimples, diaper rash, poison ivy, and other kinds of skin irritation – even gut irritation!
